When you first set up your Instagram® business account, it's natural to want lots of followers fast.

Looking at influencers in our niche, we see that they have thousands of followers and want to replicate them and get our content in front of as many people as we can.

But getting your first 1000 followers doesn't happen overnight, and don't be tempted to get paid followers to boost your numbers! This doesn't help business in the long run.

In this post, we share five helpful steps that help you reach 1000 followers on the Gram organically. 

Voice Note Your New Followers 

When someone follows your business account, it's a nice touch to drop them a short voice message to thank them.

This way, they get to know the personality behind your brand and realize they're actually following a real person!

This personal touch makes them more comfortable with your content and is likely to boost their engagement with whatever you post.

Please don't take your followers for granted, as they are your potential clients and need to be treated as such from the very start.

Keep in Touch With Existing Followers

While it's challenging to interact with thousands of followers' content, you should dedicate some time each week to interact with those that have followed you and engage purposefully with their content in the early days.

People are so grateful for interactions on their posts, particularly if they are considered and personalized.

Engaging with content on Insta gets you noticed, and people often reciprocate by engaging with content that you post. 

Always Respond to Dms and Comments

You wouldn't ignore a customer if they walked into your business and asked you a question, so don't ignore them on Instagram® if they ask you a question in your comments section or send you a message!

Thank people who offer you feedback and suggestions and respond to all questions promptly and politely.

Don't forget, you're trying to establish trust with your potential clients, and ignoring them when they interact with you doesn't exactly send a good message! 

Keep Your Messaging Simple and Focused 

Understanding what your audience wants to see is a crucial part of developing your Instagram® strategy.

Don't overcomplicate your content either; just produce compelling content that you think your audience wants to see.

If something doesn't work out, then that's okay; you can always pivot and try a new strategy.

Make Some Time to Engage With New Accounts

A great way of increasing your number of followers is purposefully engaging with new accounts and influencers.

When you're planning your content and start to understand what your audience wants to see, spend some time searching Insta for similar accounts and engaging with their posts.

Not only will this give you ideas about what content to create, but it will also increase your visibility on Instagram® as you will be engaging with people outside of your initial network.
